1 phrase in 50 fonts
Waleed (539 pencils) | Fri, 2006-08-11 18:13Hi,
Is there a way to see a phrase in all the fonts I have?
Choosing fonts one by one is so mundane..
Thanks,
Waleed

If you need a logo for your company or product you can get it done with us.
In our logo store you can pick from over 28,000 pre-made logos that will be customized to your name for free or you can post a contest for us for just $250 and our designers from all over the world will submit dozens of logo design suggestions to your specific needs.
Go to Root/Library/Scripts/Info Scripts/Font Sample.scpt, open it and run it. This will show the default OS X fonts.
If you want to see other fonts as well, open your font management utility (if you don't have one, download FontExplorer), select the fonts you want to see, type in a phrase, and voliá...
Cool, thanks :)

For any PC people out there who might apreciate an answer to this question as well, I use Extensis Suitcase to do this. It lets you type out phrases or use the predefined paragraphs an dpick whatever fonts you are interested in seeing the phrase rendered in.
Suitcase will also let you actually activate and organize your fonts as well. So for example, I keep all my blackletter, serif, sans-serif, script fonts, etc in their own folders to make things easier to manage.
I have read some good things on Font Explorer, however their is no PC version for this utility just yet.
Once again, this is just what I use on a PC platform, it is all I have ever tried really so I cannot say how Suitcase holds up to other font management apps, PC or Mac. Just know it does what it needs to do for me and I am pretty happy with it.

same in FontAgent Pro.
If I'm working on a logo or headline and need to be inspired by the unexpected.... I'll type in the text (once each in U/lc, lc, and all caps) set the point size as large as what fits in the window and scroll quickley through every font in my library.
The best I ever used on Windows machine was the Bitstream Font Navigator that comes with the Corel Suite. It doesn't sell seperately though.

And of Course Adobe Type Manager.
