Oh no!
Ivan | Thu, 2005-02-10 21:01I was so happy with our new soon to be launched CreativeBits logo and tagline: "Switch on the right side of your brain".

And than I find this site! So, now going back to the drawing board. It's not like I've seen that site before, because than I could at least blame it on my subconscious. Even their color scheme is the same as it was for CreativeBits v2. Arrrgh!

oh man!! what a shame! btw, nice logo...

too bad! :-/
btw, i think your design is more of a logo than theirs, which just looks like half a power button...
I like the older one better.
Power button seems so unoriginal.
To be honest (sorry Ivan), I never liked the version 2 logo either. In fact, I don't even care for the "updated" version 1 logo with the new font – the one at the top of the page now. I really liked the original, and from a marketing standpoint, I don't care for logo changes overall.
I gotta say though, that site is horrible, it took forever to load and before I could see anything, I had to make decisions... this is the internet, I refuse to be forced to THINK!!!
Stick with what you have, it's clean/distinctive.
Change is NOT always good.
Huh... maybe you both saw the same elements floating around, and all the other designer did was to put it to paper faster... which it seems to be is the way design trends and visionaries get started.
Try going minimalistic vis-a-vis of colors, graphics and type, and attempt a full screen liquid layout.
another vote for the old logo. it's much more telling and memorable.
Glass/metallic/glowing has been done to death, anyhow. Be thankful you found another site, and realized "oh man, that looks bad".
Suzy (Viridian) here.
I have to vote for the old logo as well. Maybe a variation of that theme?
Gateway co-opted the power on symbol for their rebranding too.
