3ative is a company consisting of three designers who specialize in three different fields: web development, graphic design, and motion design.
I implemented the triangle because it has three sides. I'm not crazy about the 3 yet but this is where I've come so far. I want the logo to read "three-ative."
Feel free to be as critical as you want as long as you've got some advice on improving it.

Doesn't read. Had no idea that was a 3 until I read the brief.
The triangle aspect - the connection to the 3 fields - is not coming thru either. I'm reading that as an A and V - not triangles. A triangle has 3 sides - those have 2. The triangle aspect is an idea you could run with - 3 different colors for the 3 sides (and 3 fields) or something. But right now you're just projecting that - it's only in your head, not on the paper.
That's my 2 cents - I'm going to leave some commentary for the others.
My brain wanted it to read "bative" or "sative". Never got the "3" until I read the brief.
Reading "bative". Heck, I didn't even know it was a 3 until I read the brief.
Doesn't look creative at all. The "3"ative just seems gimmicky. It doesn't look like the logo for a multimedia company.
Back to the drawing board I say.

but yeah. typed, it reads Bative. and the logo reads as SATIVE.
i think if youre going to make it work. youre going to have to add some kind of graphic element between the 3 and the a
3•ative, 3|Ative, etc...
and i dont really care for your type direction at all. looks like a play on the KISS logo.
i say start over
Hey guys thanks so much for the help. I completely agree and I guess I was just looking at that logo for so long that I didn't even realize people wouldn't see it as a 3.

And no, we aren't 3ative.com, we are 3ativedesign.com but our site isn't up yet.
There's ANOTHER company with that name? Wow. Have to say - I think that's a HORRIBLE name. You might want to braiinstorm a new one before you get married to it - especially if there's another company with a virtually identical name.
Especially one who kinda does the same thing.

So no one likes the name 3ative design? The three of us have been roommates for 3 years, thought the name was cool, but I guess it needs more work. And not having the domain 3ative.com is a huge problem...

Lol you just have to say three - then ative - like creative but with a 3. I know this logo is terrible. I will be reposting a new one shortly.
Yeah, I was still having difficulty sounding out the name by the end of this thread. I'm also trying to start up a freelance company of sorts with some friends of mine, and it took us quite a while to settle on a name. Even longer to settle on a logo!
at least you didn't try for a poor quality ripoff of the creative labs logo like whoever has 3ativedesign.com currently attempted to do.
i have to agree that i did not know it was a 3. i thought it might be a stylized B. i think you should totally look up some different ways of communicating a 3 and go with it. a triangle would be one way, i would look into doing maybe 3 triangles? and the shapes that they make. different designs and ways that they could intersect. i like the triangle use in the type, for the A and the V. i think you should carry that on out with your next design.
