Adium high memory usage error

Shortly after starting Adium the memory usage goes above 500MB according to Activity Monitor and it slows the whole system down. Clearly it's a memory leak. I'm running the latest version in both OSX and Adium. Anybody experienced the same and do you have a cure for it?
