Adobe CS2 Prod. Prem. Activation... HELP!!!!
momoflakes (12 pencils) | Fri, 2007-06-29 21:02Hey everyone,
I am basically at my wit's end here, I don't know what to do.
I bought my Adobe CS2 Production Premium off of ebay from a well-reputed and 100%-positive-feedback person. I got the suite via UPS, inspected it first-hand, it's legit.
I install it. It's perfect. I activate it...
Uh-oh.
Looks like the seller didn't deactivate it before he sold it. Hmm, no biggy, I'll just contact him, the whole thing will get sorted out, right? NOPE.
Looks like the guy won't contact me at all, and I'm stuck with a 30-day grace period for my extremely important and expensive software that I need for film school and business.
Well, time to contact Adobe Customer Service! So I call, get transferred...hold...hold...hold...disconnect. Call back, get a rude chick who thinks I have a pirated copy, hold...hold...
then... I come across this forum, filled with all the horror stories of Adobe's Customer Service. So I hang up.
I can't get a hold of the seller via ANYTHING. Adobe won't help me. I'm running out of time in the grace period. I feel 100% screwed. So can someone help me at all? I searched for activation cracks, found none. I looked in the program files, to see if I could find something, it all looks like foreign languages to me. I'm so confused and angered, and I need help, activation bypass, cracks, expertise, anything. Thanks.

how long have you had it? return it as "not as described" ebay has a whole thing where you can file a grievance/complaints with the seller.
just a start.
with that said, i'd avoid ebay for ANY/ALL software needs.

I'm sure you're aware of the precautions needed on purchasing software on Ebay, so I don't need to go into that.
However, I've had this happen to me on a mobile phone I purchased. There are several options you can take - both Ebay and Paypal offer a way of contacting, where as Archmedia described, you can usually get in contact to the seller through certain "complaint" applications. Paypal I found works the best, I was able to contact the seller when I couldn't through their information provided on Ebay. If anything, it will ruin their record until they contact you to resolve the issue.
Hope this helps.

if you used paypal, then ebay will force you to use their customer complaints center, or whatever it's called... it's just their way to keep things filtered through the right tools seeing as paypal is the one that tracked the payments and dates of payments.

Okay, so this is definitely helping. As long as I can contact the seller, things will be much easier to clear up.
Okay, so I've been looking on ebay, and the report problem section and stuff. Thank both of you for your help, you can probably tell I'm alot less P.O.'d than I was... :D Thanks!
I am having the same issue with Photoshop CS2 and InDesign CS2 upgrades I purchased on eBay. I always require the seller to send me an Adobe license transfer form with shipment that legally makes the software transfer. I get it even if it's never been registered as legal protection. All that to say, did you ask Adobe to check on the registration for the serial number. They can tell you if it's been registered before and who the owner shows to be. If it's never been registered and you are in possession then you are the owner. If it has been registered then you just need the signed transfer form to make it legally yours. In any case, I believe that there are some bugs with Adobe's activation program which started with the CS2 version. They are sending me an email with a batch program to run to fix the activation issue. Depending on the registration issue, you might be able to have them do the same for you. I register all my products and legally transfer them in writing whenever I sell a product I no longer use and decide to sell. By registering you lock in your ownership, and it really protects your investment.
