Ads of The World - Banned

Well, it happened and Ads of The World is now a censored website and cannot be viewed through Saudi Arabian ISPs. Sometimes I wonder, would a site be blocked if nobody reported it?

Ivan, is the internet censored in Bahrain?

It's understandable. There is much NSFW content out there.

I think the internet is not censored in Bahrain anymore. I can load any site. It used to be restricted a few years back, but I don't think it's the case anymore.

When censoring websites, there are several main methods used. One is to make a long list of sites that are known to be acceptable to the sensitive tastes of some people. Another is to make a list of sites that are blocked. Yet another is to filter out content by looking for certain word combos. I think we're dealing with the second one here, and that someone has reported it. It's a shame, because there really isn't anything on that site that is offensive (except for that Volkswagen Golf ad perhaps? - but even then only to certain people).

Waleed, try a proxy. There's loads of free proxy servers out there on the web. See if that works. :)

There are several concerns when it comes to having your own proxy:
- Eats up from your site's bandwidth.
- Risk of blocking your own site, since it has a proxy (even if it was password protected).
- As Mackie said: S--L--O--W.

It's annoying in some cases, but I feel safer when the kids start browsing (I'm just lazy, hehe)

Proxy servers unfortunately are slow as crap.
