Adult Foster Care company logo
mikelufholm (89 pencils) | Wed, 2010-09-15 20:43it's pretty self explanatory. i work at what's basically a sober house and i wasn't really diggin' there logo so i asked them if i could earn some extra hours to redo their logo. i can't pull the one they are currently using off their site, but if you wanna see it got to everydaylivingmn.com... i'd appreciate any feedback you can give me! thanks!

Concept is cliché, type is gay and the drop shadow is completely unnecessary.
it's always sad when somebody thinks their company's logo stinks. so they take it upon themselves to redo it. only to find out theirs is worse than the original.
yeah. this is bad. much worse than the existing logo.
as mentioned above. this is a cliche idea and its very poorly executed.
the type feels like money, and why is the name dropshadowed and the roof isnt?
there are plenty of cliche ideas that can be pulled off well.
i say give it another shot.
everyone else said it well. the original is better.
you've stretched type (bad, bad, bad). cliche. looks more like a bad home renovation logo. the original at least has a positive vibe to it,
Start over, start with a concept, put some thought into the logo.

oh dear... what can I say that hasn't been said before?
The original logo is quite grim, but your alternative is worse. The original at least had some kind of concept behind it.
If you are being paid for this you should be ashamed.

I wish there was an easy way to say "No, seriously. Design is really, REALLY hard." I wasn't going to reply to this thread as there was nothing to say but do yourself a favor. Go down to your local big box book store, thumb through a copy of AIGA design awards for logos. If you find yourself still there three hours later, you probably have caught the 'I want to be a designer' bug and then you'll want to discover how they did it.
Then, maybe you'll discover how they did it and find your own ways to do it better.
Cheers.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
That logo sobered me right up.
The good news is you know enough to realize that original logo sucked. So you swung and missed on this one... Do a little research, try to think up an idea or a concept and then take another shot at it. Remember your product - it's not the house - it's the process of getting sober. Try not to be so literal.
