the illustration is very old school. Colors need work. Typography needs to be completely rethought. In general it conveys the subject, but the logo is very generic and therefore not memorable.
Ivan please don't let me down. First of all, the typography is not part of the artwork. Secondly, the guys asked for a symbol points to GYMNASTICS so it should be there. Thirdly, I mentioned in my submission "it's just a prototype". However, your comments are still valid-:).

Khalid
i dont like the illustration as well. it looks like it was done in the 60's but not in a good way.
but keep working =]

ftrc: is this a comment or what?. I'm inviting you to show us something belong to the 21st century not just throwing words.

you better work on your own portfolio..nothing impressive there.
I really hope that you're having a joke with the other 2!!!
You can't ask for comments and then get too defensive once you receive some good criticism.
The illustration will need some work to modernise it and if I were doing this logo, I'd like to have control of the typography.
Well, I suppose I've lit the fuse, so I'll go and hide!
Chris: Thank you very much for your comment. My friend there is a big difference between criticism and sarcasm. I did this logo in 10 minutes time and I'm working on the final one. The type-face is not part of it; and as I said they asked for this symbol. however, I'll post the new one later on and hopefully I can have your C&C.
Regards,
In my opinion this isnt working as a logo. Imagine how this would work in 2x2 cm size? The illustration is too detailed.

The contest seems interresting. If I want to join where can I find the guide lines for the contest. I looked it up online, cant find anything about it....can you post the AD or something?
Thank you for your interest. Basically, the AD was published in local newspaper and yet the guys don't have a website and that's why they want the new brand to be ready before spring. The main elements of the logo is the shape and the colors. They want a shape or a symbol that points to GYM, the used colors should be dark blue, yellow and red. If interested I can send you the pantone codes.
Regards,
Hey thanks for sharing that...I am interested for sure, Yes the pantones would help. Then where do u submit the designs? If you can tell all that info. will appreciate it! Btw where are you based?
Thanks
Old school it is, but maybe that is what is needed to hit the intended audience. It might even be decoded as cool in a retro way by them - who knows? I don't, Ivan probably dont either, khshahen, you're probably the only one who does.
I've seen your other stuff, and you don't only do "old school" stuff, maybe all this hammering at each other could be lessened by a better description of the target audience?
Also the logo could be developed at different levels of complexity, so that even a small one like 2x2cm would be covered, couldn't it?
And just a bitter comment here at the end of my rant: Ftrc, don't throw clipart insults at people, it's simply too low. Producing endless versions of late 1990's posters might be old school one day as well.
Marty: Thank you very much for your valuable comment. I don't have anything to add except my invitation to you to visit the following link:

I think the illustratin is ok, not memorable. By the way, it seems that anything that is said to you you get very defensive, we are just talking about this logo, right here not about anything else. This is not about attacking but appreciating, commenting. I also think that the whole thing would dysplay better with more empty space around it and maybe on white.
