Ugh, I'm pretty much disgusted with the results so far, and it's almost over. Even moreso with the results of what happened in my own state. I swear too many people are stupid.

Ivan, you know how I feel lol! Ireland is looking sweet right now. Let's hope Kerry wins Ohio somehow in the next 10 days!

Ivan's picture

i'm supporting Ralph Nader, not that I have a say. If the world had a say Kerry would win without question:

final Betavote result:

Kerry 421,770 (88%), Bush 55,242 (11%)

So Ivan, have you always lived in Bahrain?

Ivan's picture

no. i lived big parts of my life in Hungary and China.

Ivan didn't seem like a very Bahrainian (is that a word?) name. Man, you've had some major moves. Bahrain, Hungary, China...wide range of distance and culture. I bet it has been an interesting journey.

yes, it certainly was. i'm looking into moving one day either to south west Europe or south of the US.

Yeah, it's easy to stick to your decision when you only made 2 in four years.

Fear not my friend, we have enough life-sucking, money grubbing lawyers in this country that virtually no one has to worry about the system actually going through with the death penalty!

Well about the highest deficit that sucks, I'm a foreigner myself so it's hard for me to fully understand and judge.

One thing I have no doubts about:

Do you want to have a leader that worries how other countries may judge you?

You mean to tell me you base your decisions on how people may think about you

and you worry about pleasing them?

I know I shouldn't even replied..this is goin' to open a flame war within the forum..

Being safe is my priority as well. Attacking Iraq in a rush is not a way to be safe it just infuriates more countries against us. Being safe also includes dealing with North Korea and Iran. Oh by the way China will own us in 2008. Thats where I see the US heading. Bush is BAD at foreign diplomacy.

The current worldwide status requires any and all major powers to become accountable to the rest. To disregard this is to isolate oneself. If the Bush regime continues on it's self appointed world leadership, a downward spiral is inevitable. Alliances between other nations are quickly moving them to higher levels of worldwide authority; something that simply CANNOT be ignored.

Americans should be wary of knitting themselves into an ignorant and dangerous cocoon.

Those that truly control the power ($$$) of America have been fiendishly careful to ensure only "the right information" is disseminated amongst it's flock. The rest of the world has a much better view of reality!

I am disgusted, angry and depressed with the outcome of these elections. While Kerry is certainly not a great candidate for the leadership of such a powerful country, he was the lesser of two evils. I have little faith in American safety for the next four years - perhaps longer!

I just feel good about leaving the US when I left. Best decision I made in my life. Now I can sit back and see how a country full of s.h.i.t. is going down the drain while clugging the canals with a majority (51%) of idiots who can't even realize they need to flush the toilet after draining their head into it.

A whole world will suffer in what will be one of the worse dictatorships seen in human history. Blood will flow dow the drains, creating rivers of hell and overflowing lakes of death.

The future is dark, so buy your nigh-vision goggles and make sure you have enough batteries to have them running for another 4 years with no light.

Canada has the Queen as a symbol of pride, the US has the pyramid with the eye as a stamp of control.

what struck me on this cool map is that the states on both sides of the US are blue, and all the states in the middle are red. i ask myself why like that? if you had a look at betavote, you could see how much the World is against Bush. my completely ignorant guess is that the states that are on either side of the american continent are a little bit closer to the rest of the world, both geographically and in mentality. is that true? is this theory BS?

Charlie D's picture

Wow Ivan, that is a good theory you have there. Could be some truth to that. There are more bush supporters down south because of his cowboy mentallity and simple mindedness that they can relate to down there. I hate to over generalize, but simply stated, its true.

Wow! It has always fascinated me how much Canadians have such a huge chip on their shoulder about their neighbor to the south. Its particularly funny since you guys have got a central section of your own nation that doesnt even want you. Seems a little like the pot calling the kettle black....

Also, there must be some reason why some of the most famous Canadians have become famous only by leaving Canada and making it in the USA. Food for thought....

Also, if the British monarchy is just a "symbol of pride" then why did the USA have to fight to get rid of it? Doesn't the presence of the USA in itself prove that the origins Canada came from were oppressive? Also, since independence from rule the USA has become a superpower. Canada has not. Which path to national success is then logically the superior one? Who has ended up envying who?

If the USA is "building a coccoon" then why are other forefront Commonwealth nations such as Australia such staunch allies and supporters?

BTW Im an asian-born white Australian who grew up in Australia, Asia, the UK, The USA (Texas and WA) and Canada..... I for one am happy to defend the United States and its people.

I think it has more to do with religion than anything else. The states that are red are more religious and Bush has a stand against abortion, so do the people of those states. Of course there is more to it than that I am sure. No offense to anyone on this form but when I was in the military, I met a lot of meat-heads from the red "bible" states.

You have a terribly twisted and uncommonly warped sense of Canada.

1/ No chip on OUR shoulder - we're quite happy being independent of the U.S.

2/ Quebec wants us, just not our government.

3/ Greed is the reason behind some of us heading south - not something to be particularly proud of.

4/ Our "oppressive" society has kept us pretty safe and successful, wouldn't ya say?

5/ We're a "quiet superpower". Ask any other nation.

6/ Canada envies the U.S.? You've obviously mistaken us for another nation.

7/ Better check your "staunch allies and supporter's" agendas.

8/ I would EXPECT you to defend your country and it's people - why else are you there?

I know this is a never-ending argument, but I honestly don't understand how other countries couldn't feel and react the same way if over 3.000 of its innocent citizens were slaughtered in an instant. Just my 2 cents.

Now, that it's certain that Bush has won, let's congratulate him and let's see if he learns from all the criticism coming towards him. Let's see if he reopens his campaign web site. (Did you know it was shut down for anyone trying to visit it from outside the US?) Let's hope he solves some major internal issues and will take some time to solve the Palestinian issue, bring back peace to Iraq and let's hope he will not go after Iran, North Korea and Syria. Let's hope he will handle it sensibly and without any agression.
