always have the date to hand

Here's a quick way to stop people asking what the date is...!

you can always have the date showing using the ical icon in the doc - notice how it says July 17th until you launch the app (sorry if you are reading this on July 17th - it must be very confusing)

step 1 - open system prefs

step 2 - click accounts

step 3 - select the user and go to the login items tab

step 4 - drag the ical icon from your application folder into 'these items' window.

step 5 - (optional) check the hide box, this will launch the app on startup and then hide it from view.

conclusion: iCal will always be launched and todays date will be in the dock.

i prefer this

http://www.objectpark.net/mcc.html

with this neat bit of software i can have the iCal logo (with the correct date showing) sat between spotlight an the time in the menu bar, added bonus of a small drop-down calendar in the menu bar with full iCal (or Entourage) integration.

i highly recommend giving it a try

That's a great little program that makes events quickly accessible from iCal.
