An Event Apart Video

An Event Apart Video

Looking for a little feedback on the video I did for the first 'An Event Apart' held this past December in Philadelphia, PA. Visit An Event Apart to see the video.

I should mention that the logo and typography were the work of Jason Santa Maria. I appropriated them for the presentation.

I think the video looks really great, and I enjoyed watching it a couple of times over.

The only suggestion I have would have made: Bring the black box where the subtitles are in, when its needed. It appears during the 'intro' of the clip and sort of gets in the way there.

Overal I really like it, and its nice to get some video on the critique section :)

Top work Ian!

neat!

nice, simple, like the structure im probably wrong with this presumption but it looks as though the "rule of thirds" was a dominating factor the decision process regarding the composition - which is what i liked about it, not only did it bring consistancy but also had a direct relationship with an issue brought up many a time on a A list site...The Grid

Agree with jammo about the start though, im sure theres a more elegant way to introduce the base layout.

Other than that, fab, good stuff

Thanks for the feedback! The subtitles are purely an accessibility thing (added later) and, as such, are entitled to lack style.

The rule of thirds was not given much consideration. However I was trying to give the full chyron (see image above) somewhat organic, yet asymetrical proportions without going overboard. You'll notice immediately that the line (which opens) isn't central. Which allows the banner to overlap both "halves" of the chyron element. Geh. Enough.

Thanks again. And those developers and designers in the Atlanta, GA area should totally check out the Event Apart coming to them!
