Don't know how anyone could actually miss Futura, but agree Verdana is a horrible choice to replace it.
Bad choice indeed. I hate Verdana in big.
They need to keep a sterile/bland image to appeal to the hairdressers of the world. It makes sense to me, standard furniture, standard font.

Agency group think... Everyone goes into a room and they water down all the good ideas until Verdana looks like a smart choice. That's how we got New Coke and the Edsel too.
