harrison (173 points) | Mon, 2006-05-08 00:58Brand new site design. Went for something really really simple.
you can see the functioning site at http://andrew.harrison.org
It's all just html, mainly because i dont know how to do it in flash.
Let me know what you think. The content pages aren't all up, and I know about the image rollover in "folio" problem, and the firefox/IE error on the 7wm/tutelage/me pages where the side images don't line up properly.
Let me know what you think.

I think it's good. It looks decent and it is functional. My only real big suggestion is redoing those blue lines you have everywhere. They look very tacky and the Photoshop airbrush tool is evident in their creation. I can see you have an interest in graffiti/urban art, so why not just spray paint the line on paper and photograph or scan it into the computer. Also, on the inside pages, the container that holds the body text doesn't have equal left and right margins which looks very unprofessional.
I like the colors and simplicity, and don't feel like it is a necessity to put Flash in your site, usually it just ends up making even a simple site take for ever to load. Bloated Site=Bad Site. Keep it simple.

Thanks for that.
The only reason I wanted to use flash is because the way the navigation works, it would look really good in flash with animation. I'm happy with how it is now though.
I've been meaning to fix up the margins on the content pages, I'm playing around with the template at the moment to get blogger working properly for the 7wm blog section.
You make a good point with the blue lines. I might take your suggestion and pull out the spray paint.
thanks for the crit

Ahh, sorry for off topic,
but Melbourne, "Stencil Graffiti Capital", lucky you!!!
imo it looks boring. the font is over used. the lines dont match and detract from the nav.. its too big for even 1024 res. oh and its some weird javascript loading, image map, table combo

Patrick,
i don't how you've got your system set up, but it fits perfectly on my 1024x screen.
there's no image map, it's just a table with rollover images.

I like the simple brown homepage. However I don't think your logo works well with the 60's typeface. Can you not create a logo that is not exactly the same font, but works with it? Like a variation on the same theme?
