Animated favicon?

Look at this site and it's favicon. It's animated. How can they achive that? What application did they use to create it?

It's pretty simple, they just put this in to an animated gif:

< link href="/images/OMG_icon.gif" TYPE="image/gif" REL="icon" >

It doesn't animate in WebKit though.

It's way too distracting, especially in Firefox where it appears in both the address bar and the tab.

I see no problem with using animated favicons. Distracting? They're tiny images at the very top of your browser, how is that distracting? I think Firefox has done a great deal making itself compatible with animated gif favicons. Brilliant :3
