davidmcholland (104 points) | Fri, 2008-03-07 22:41After I posted the Sturgeon logo I noticed that the fins in the negative space looked a little "R-Rated". That said, I simplified and reposted. As for the blank "t" in the word "sturgeon"...since the client is a hospital and the word "sturgeon" contains the word "surgeon" I was using a little creative license to highlight the pun...seems like most of you dislike that idea...I'll take a poll here at the office.

The mossy looking stuff coming out of the sturgeons' mouths kinda bugs me...I think they're part of the sturgeon...but they're kinda distracting. Maybe 2-3 hair things? I know nothing about sturgeons...sorry.
I think you lost whatever spark your original design had. This feels kind of predictable - most likely due to the mirrored shape. You need to break out of this sturgeon circle and get some asymmetry happening.
I'll chime in on the Sturgeon / Surgeon thing...
1. If you need to explain it, it won't work
2. how about the non-surgeons running in this race?
I recommend:
1. Fill in the "t" - it's taking away from the design, in my opinion (although I do like your idea - it's just not going to work as planned here).
2. I like old design (with the "08" and the sturgeon). Try that one with these colors! I think it will look great!
