Another try at my logo

Here is another try at a personal logo. My previous attempt is here: http://creativebits.org/personal_logo_design
I took some of the earlier comments to heart, and went back to the drawing board. I am quite pleased with this version, the only thing I am not sure about is color. I like the two-tone blue version, but the red/orange one kind of has a flame thing going on that is kind of appealing (that imagery doesn't have any special significance to me, though). I do also like the flexibility of this design, which I think is equally effective in one color.
I look forward to your comments, and thanks.

Not too sure on this one
I think the shape is interesting, but I think there is too much of a detatchment between the logo and the name. If you have something with such heavy lines used in the logo you'll need a typeface with a little more beef to it. Also the name just seems placed there and doesn't seem to connect with the logo. I would attempt to try and get the name built somewhere into the logo, be it running down one of the sides on an angle or stacked below carrying the same angle as the logo..

I like the logo symbol.
I like the logo symbol. Trendy and cool. The logotype needs work.
What about the colors?
So far, the general consensus (amongst myself, Ivan and wedgin) is that the logo shape is good, and that the type needs work. But what do you all think about colors? I am leaning toward the blue/orange scheme as my first choice, with the two-tone blue as my second. Any preferences? or any sugestions other than what is shown here? Thanks.
Generally the logo has to
Generally the logo has to work on black and white and then you can add colors. But, of course this is just a rule of thumb, because I'm sure the sonyericsson logo never worked in black and white and it still works great in color.
reverse the symbols out,
reverse the symbols out, that stroke weight is too heavy as a black line. you may want to think about a single solid color to cary the mark, it will read better, especially if it is just the positive figures.
the type needs a lot of work. look for a typeface that will compliment the shapes in your mark. nothing overdone though. it's a long name and readibility should be a priority. right now the mark is overwhelming the type so i would rethink your proportions as well. think about the mark at 1/4 inch and how the type would hold up.
Eye
Steve(erino)...
I think it's an interesting shape and a good experiment, but I cant get past the fact that this looks like a crooked eye. I see the D's... but I see a disturbing eye way more. Especially in the Blue on Blue version. The blue/orange version is particularly eerie.
I like the "double D's", but
I like the "double D's", but I too saw an eye first. I would try something like this so It doesn't look like an eye anymore:

(please don't copy the design, but use it as inspiration)

I say embrace the eye - it
I say embrace the eye - it totally makes sense for a designer. However, the type treatment is pretty weak. I'd throw out the all lowercase and go with Title casing or uppercasing. That way, the 2 "D"s are in sync with the graphic part of your logo.
As for colours, try toning one of them down a bit- it's a little overbearing. Try replacing the black with another colour.
Good job!
