Aperture vs Lightroom

I do weddings and am currently using iView for cataloging and organizing images in groups. I work with another photographer, and we need to find a program that will catalog and image edit in same program. The question: Between Aperture and Lightroom which is the better program for cataloging and edited, image correction.

Thanks,

I've not tried Aperture as yet because for some reason it won't install on my Mac.

Lightroom is pretty powerful and after some pretty severe data loss in iPhoto I wasn't all that keen to go back to an Apple app for sensitive photo data.
Plus the integration with Photoshop and the other Adobe apps is a big bonus, the only downside is that it's a bit of a memory hog.

The difference is that Adobe’s Lightroom will run on pretty much any Mac that runs Tiger. Aperture does not, and that’s a huge problem since Apple makes both the application and the OS it runs upon. Adobe isn’t forcing me to buy a $3000-$5000 system to run a $499 application. :(
