I just tried it on tiger, totally different result, it reads everything to you.. Awesome find :D
Tried on panther earlier and got default system sound, so its a tiger thing by the looks of it :D

what's it do? on my PB the speakers get turned up... there's even a picture of a speaker on the key??? Am I missing something?

It's a strange one, basically this turns the 'voice-over' facility on.
But depending on which app you are in, safari for example, reads the back arrow!
But, on the desktop you can scroll through files and it reads their names, sometimes as full words, sometimes as individual letters.
Kind of works but doesn't work if you know what I mean.

I take it this is a tiger thing?
Nothing happens on my machine. My favoutite is presssing ⌘⎇⌃8, I guess that still works in 10.4.

maybe it is a tiger thing as I've never heard it before. I came across it by trying to turn up the volume, hit apple instead of function.
