Apple tablet PC, shipments expected to begin in 1Q10
Ivan | Thu, 2009-10-08 02:17Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) will be the manufacturing partner for an upcoming tablet PC device from Apple, according to market sources. The device is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2010, with initial shipments from Foxconn being in the 300,000-400,000 range, the sources said.

Actually I never understud why anyone should buy those. It's to big for a handheld and a horizontal screen on a desktop. Even mobile you have to use it on your lap facing down. Onscreen keyboards are ... well onscreen keyboards. So what's the point? Does anyone know?

The most compelling rumors at the moment are that Apple is going after the Kindle market. So the device will allow you to read books and magazines.
I agree that anything bigger than a phone and smaller than a laptop seems awkward (too big to pocket, too small to work on comfortably). But if it is book-sized and fairly rugged and makes it easy to subscribe to a whole range of magazines and news papers (through, the increasingly misnamed, iTunes), and to watch videos and browse the web, then it might just have a place.
This "news" is still based on internet rumor and conjecture. There's still no proof. Can we stop with the speculation until some real facts to light on this?

Well you'll be waiting until January, when Apple seems fit to announce it.
This is just like the iPhone, everyone knew it was coming since October 2006, three months before that Macworld 07 when Apple finally admitted that it was real.
All the same sources are lining up again, so unless Job doesn't think its ready(Very low since orders are being made), January 10 is going to be interesting(Unless now that Macworld is no longer Apple's event, maybe December 09 is the new Apple event?)
Buy more Apple stock... just in case. ;-)
