Arabic font

Hi all,

I'm using Linotype FontExplorer X with CS4.
I need to use Arabic font for a project. It just needs to say "Welcome!".
And I mean I don't need a fake Arabic font, I need the real thing...
I downloaded a couple of fonts from "http://freearabicfonts.com", but nothing seems to be close to what "Welcome!" in Arabic should look like according to Google image. I got the text in various languages from the client (on PC)... no problem with Chinese (I used Adobe Heiti Std font) or Japanese (I used Gulim font), but Arabic...

Questions:

• Does Linotype FontExplorer X (the old free version) include a reliable Arabic font ?

• Do you know any reliable Arabic free font I could use?

• Suggestions?

Thanks All!

Greg

That's because Arabic is written from right to left. So you have to have software that can do that. Normal CS4 won't be able to. You need the middle eastern version of it. Textedit will be able to do it but not much use for you I guess.

Thanks Ivan,

the best way to do it is to recreate it using Illustrator, just as a vector file I guess...

You can write the text in TextEdit and print to PDF from there, and then import the PDF in Photoshop or Illustator : )

Mac OS X comes with several Arabic fonts and fonts that support Arabic, including Al Bayan, Baghdad, Courier New, and Geeza Pro.

Welcome in Arabic is ‎أهلا وسهلا , pronounced ahlan wa sahlan.
