So what do you guys think of this redesign?

It seems a bit blah as New Zealand is a pretty design forward nation. I will say the logo accomplishes several things at once (good) but that makes it an ambiguous logo (bad).
Let's discuss. :)

I don't like the new one, but it may work well if used well. With this logo everything will depend on the application.
I thought the new one was kind of drab too...
