and interesting use of metaphor: owls and books. i didn't see if the last critique was yours as well, but i think this is a bit cleaner. i like the similar stroke weight creates a more clear message.
This works better than the more elaborate version you first posted. The owl looks a little fierce, though. Maybe if the eyes were focused more on the page? Or would that be too ordinary? I guess I'm just thinking that since this is for children, you might want to make the owl more friendly. Nice logo. I like it.
