Babe Ruth Logo

This logo was designed for a baseball tournament to be held next summer in Wisconsin. The name was established by the client. The logo was limited to three colors and had to be versatile enough to be reproduced in both print and apparel applications. I'm not ready to consider this "final". I'm waiting for your feedback...thanks!

First, the term Babe Ruth is being used by quite a few folks right now as a trademark (uspto.gov), even a baseball league, so your client want to meet with a lawyer to verify he can legally use the name Babe Ruth for his event...

Other than that, this logo is okay, but I'm not liking the color combo at all. Start in black and white (I usually harp on this quite a lot around here) and get the shapes down, then worry about the color.

I see problems with printing this on shirts because of the many colors you've picked and the thin rules.

So, I recommend taking a look at some pro baseball logos like the padres (my home team!) and maybe implementing some of their spacing into your design.Pick three colors that complement each other. The ones you have now are clashing to my eyes, anyway.

It's a good start, though!

Sorry. Not doing a thing for me and I'm a HUGE baseball person--been pretty much playing, coaching and breathing it straight out of the womb.

I don't think the Babe Ruth in your graphic is working in the Yank's old font--not unless you curve it up and bastardize it some more. Maybe try doing a letter cross-over effect like NY's classic logo.

I agree with Nato about the colours. They're not working.
I'd base your design for this one with the plan to do up future production--silk screening and offset printing--on the Yankees' away uniform colour: gray. Colours? I'd try dabbling with 281 blue, 485 red and white.

And is there something significant to Wisconsin, other than the dairy industry, that you could tie into? Or would that be overkill?--sometimes I need to be reeled back in.

**Never let the fear of striking out get in your way.**

I also see a problem with the tone-on-tone corduroy effect in the angled square when it comes to apparel embroidery. That degree of subtlety could get extra-pricey, yet still not read very well. The thin stroke on "Babe Ruth" might also be a little sad-looking when embroidered.

My main concern, though, is the juxtaposition of the swoosh and baseball. Is the swoosh supposed to suggest the wake of a fastball? If so, it ain't happening.

Minor thing: if you go with this design, please consider tracking the word "championships," or increasing its point size just a wee bit to justify with Babe Ruth. The stacking is topheavy, even with the weighty blue.

This is a fun project. Hope you're enjoying it!
