Bad Cheese Studio

Yet again I have played with the logo layout and font.

Not sure how this is radically different from your last uploads. Did you read the comments for that one?

yeah, i have to say i see very little change here, just a slight reshuffling of the elements. and an odd pair of fonts to go with it.

btw, that bug still looks really weird reversed out of there. i believe it's supposed to be a dead fly based on the animation still, but it looks nothing like a fly here.

I'd have the sword coming straight down vertically, cutting into the cheese then work the text around that. Maybe integrate the dead fly into the typography if it has to be there. At the moment it just looks like 3 objects thrown together.

Out of curiosity why is the sword and the fly required? It just seems they are hindering the design. on a business card you won't even see the fly, and the sword brings no meaning to the logo. Unless of course, you happen to have a brief.

Also this isn't a logo, it's an illustration.

Then more emphasis should be put on the fly, then the cheese and lastly the sword.

To be honest, just because something isn't the same without something does't mean it should be there. but if you insist on using the sword (or in this case a dagger, unless that's a HUGE piece of cheese and a HUGE fly) it should be the the third element to grab my attention. Right now there are five fighting for my attention.

I think you should loose everything (sword, tabletop, fly) except for the cheese and the text (but change the font). Just have the cheese as your mark and then you don't have to screw around with 100 different elements. Then you'll be able to focus on making that cheese unique and picking a great font.
With what you've got right now I can't picture it in any type of scenario where it'll look good.

Agree with waffleboy.

The elements spread attention and make your logo weak.

Imagine Apple logo with a bee beside.

Is that supposed to be a cheese knife? Excaliber? A letter opener? Cocktail skewer? What's the point? (No pun intended.)

The dead fly is superfluous. At business-card size, it will be only a speck. And, as has been pointed out, it doesn't look like a fly.

As Leaky Penny has pointed out, and as, I believe, several of us said when you posted earlier drafts of this piece, this isn't a logo; it's an illustration.

What are you trying to accomplish by sticking with this design? What does "bad cheese" mean to you and what do you hope it will tell potential clients? If it's goth whimsy you're after, I'm afraid this is neither edgy enough to be goth, nor a clever enough twist on something to be considered whimsical.

Is there some rationale for your choice of the Art Deco font? How does it enhance the cheese motif? Was cheese at its very baddest in the 1920s?

I'm sorry, I see nothing here to excite me. I believe the problem is that you haven't thought through your concept enough.

Does anyone know where to find Ivan's terrific questionnaire for logo clients? This designer might find it a useful way to approach this project from a more productive perspective.

You should probably hire a graphic Designer to design this for you. I'm currently available, but I don't come cheap ;)

Too bad you couldn't make the knife even thinner and have it spearing the fly and the cheese at once.

And, my god, man....get away from the horrific fonts. And the weird, off-putting shape around the cheese.

What changed from the last one? The font? You need a complete overhaul here and you're just nibbling around the edges of the bad cheese.

Reboot, my friend... reboot.
