Please give me advise to become a freelancer, my specialty are web/graphic designing, updating websites, basic php,asp.c#.net and vb.net programs. I want to spend my extra time on that works. I have portfolio design in friendster: profiles.friendster.com/dyselpestano, also online website works: www.santraphael.com and www.oliveraberamos.com.

Thanks in advance.

So what advice do you need?

First I would get a real online portfolio, not just a social networking portfolio. People who are interested in you doing work for them don't need to know if you are single or what your sign is. After you get your site up I suggest you have a blog that is actually related to what you have on your website, more informative and less "friendly" then figure out how you are going to promote yourself. There is a lot more that you will need to become a good freelancer. It is hard work to be a freelancer and I think a lot of people out there thing that it is a piece of cake working for yourself and it isn't. Remember to make sure that you are keeping your books straight and that you are backing up your work. Good Luck!

No. Really.

The first step is reaching out to those who are already doing it and asking a lot of questions.

The bottom line is getting to know as many freelancers, preferably doing what you are interested in doing and learning from them (and their mistakes) is a huge first step.

The second step is easy. It's just execution. :)

Good luck.

hello, im confused with the rate per project once you are freelancer? What if the client ask me to do a changes with the first project that i made, how can i charge it? by the way thanks for the advice to you guys.

With my clients I have an agreement to allow for 3 changes which is included in the price. Over that 15% extra for every change.

The client should get 3 rounds but also pricing depends on what the client wants also you will find that some clients can work quickly through the approval process and then there are others that eat up a lot of time. Once you are able to figure out what kind of client they are you are able to state certain things in your agreement that will keep the client on track and keep money in your pocket.
