Best External Hard Drives for Mac
The Letter D (66 pencils) | Tue, 2009-11-17 01:40Hey everyone, I'm finally in the market for an external hard drive and I'm trying to find the best ones that work well with macs.
I know a lot of you out there have them and I'm hoping for some buying advice. I'm looking for nothing bigger than 500GB and looking to spend around $100.

Actually I think the prices and quality are really close to each other nowadays. I wouldn't spend much time researching this question. Just go with the one available to you.
Pick a reliable brand and not the bottom priced ones. For me, the data on the harddrive is worth more then the harddrive itself.

Check out amazon reviews - it gives you a good idea where failure rates seem to be higher, what the gripes are and where the gooid customer service is.
Any drive will work with a mac, you may need to re-format it, but disk utility will handle that for you.
$100US should get you a 1GB external. if you shop carefully, even less than that. i have a 1GB buffalo linkstation live NAS, which is connected to my network via ethernet cable, which cost me less than $100. works great. has both ethernet and USB connections.

If you want to buy the best way is to search on internet many of search engine is there or go for hardware company they will sugges you.
