blink media logo design
ilikesalsa (53 points) | Sun, 2005-06-05 15:29I've got a few design ideas here, just wanted to get some ideas from y'all on how to improve them. I feel like something is missing, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Number 2 is the best of those but as you said there is something missing.. I can't put my finger on what it is..
I feel like it needs a second colour somehow, maybe the dot on ' i ' or the backgound of 'media group' needs a colour... or a lighter shade of grey.

#1 - looks kid-like and the type looks stuck in there
#2 - i think its a poor type face choice, the i is awkward looking, and the type looks like it was just stuck in the black block
#3 - looks good except for the "i" is too much of a focal point right now, and the concept might be too messy and edgy, unless thats what you are going for.
hope to see the revisions.

here is something i whipped up in a jiffy. since you seem to be wanting to use a fun font, i used antfarm... i saw this on a t-shirt once, demanding a beer or something like that... and thought it was fun as it did make me blink and rub my eyes to make sure my vision was ok... otherwise i pretty much agree with the others on the critique.

I really like #2 and #3... #1 reminds me of BLINK182 for some reason?!?! I think my favorite is #2.
Number 3 is very good and original. Not sure if it works with the company's target market, but I like it. I'd get rid of the colors.
Three is good. But it looks like it belongs to a skateboard company.
Ya I agree, it has a real extreme, sorta punk feel to it. Not ideal for the target audience / industry.

I pretty much had the same thoughts as Ivan did. Very much liked the third one and yes Id also say - get rid of the of the colors :)
Is #3 vector art? Just looking at it from a print point of view.

That's funny, I just did a logo for a company called Blink Polymedia. They were going to be business partners, but now just clients.
I loved the name though: Blink is visual. They do design. Blink contains LINK. They do web design. Blink contains INK. They do print design.
I spent days fiddling around with eyes and the action of blinking. Then I re-thought the situation. Blinking (as in blinking lights, blinkers on a car, etc.) gets attention. Which is what you want your design company to do. And so I tried to express that action *Blink* in an icon.
The final is in my portfolio - http://www.oddlaa.com/
I'm not too fond of number 1, it just doesn't do anything for me.
Number 2 is the most corporate looking of the three, but it still isn't there typeface wise.
The third is kinda spotty. I don't think it would work as a logo. When doing logos I always think back to what one of my professors in college taught me. He said to design your logo so that it looks good in 1 colour, multiple colours, inversed and scaled up or scaled down. This logo doesn't strike me like it would hold up to that criteria. I like the style used, but it's not really a logo persay.
