Summer projects?

It's summertime now and a lot of us ordinary CB heads is on vacation of some kind and just lying in the sun (Haven't seen much of that in Sweden) or we're just having a good time out or something else..

Ivan wrote a blog post in 2004 about finding inspiration, perhaps some people who weren't with us in 2004 read it but finds it interesting now in the summer of 2005..

What’s the word Tiger

Dictionary

The thing about dictionaries is that they are great, but you never have one next to you when you need it the most. They are heavy so you can’t really carry them along with you all the time, they take up lots of space on your desk and you might end up cutting yourself while going through all pages in a hurry.

And there's one more thing more about them and that is that they're not like Spotlight, almost the contrary.. Find it but find it slow.

Wouldn’t it be great if you had a Oxford dictionary in your Apple computer?
It weighs nothing, doesn’t take up any space on your desk. You don’t need to be a book nerd that never leaves the library. A dictionary for the rest of us!

CB RSS feed in your screensaver

RSS Feed

Apple has made a really nice screensaver called RSS Visualizer that in a 3d style reads a RSS feed while your’e away and you’ve set that your screensaver starts in certain minutes..

Perhaps you want to impress your co workers with this screensaver which perhaps is running Windows (Cough Cough) and they can read latest blog posts on Creative bits.

Get smart with Spotlight

Smart folder

In the beginning of computer age, owning a hard drive was pretty expensive and they were pretty small compared of today. By time we created more and more files and put them in folders, easy back then when we could find folders and files on the drive like in our own pocket, today it's a different story. Today we have billions of files and we create more and more every minute, hour and day.

How often haven't you made things in Photoshop, Illustrator and several other applications and forgot about those files, you saved them in a folder gosh now where, and when you search for them you can't seem to find them anywhere.

Sticky widgets with Dashboard

Dashboard

When Dashboard was announced at WWDC in June 2004 most people thought it was a rip-off on the application called Konfubulator which made it possible to have widgets on your desktop lying there so you could monitor weather or something else, the thing about those widgets were that they were sticky on the desktop.

Apple has made Dashboard to work like widgets in Exposé style, press F12 to instantly show them, check your widgets and then press F12 to instantly go back where you were doing at the moment. This tip makes it possible to have a widget on your desktop without the need to have your Dashboard active.
