Bridge / Version Cue workflow success?

I've often looked at the Version Cue workflow and have given it a try a few times but to no real success.

I've lost a couple of files here and there in the versioning system and it just doesn't seem all that reliable.

Adobe doesn't seem to 'push' this workflow either, is this because it's simply an inferior Finder or are they phasing it out?

I'm still using CS3 so if it's no longer part of the suite then I guess that answers my questions but if it is, I'd like to master this and maybe introduce it to my studio as a workflow.

Do any of you use it?
Do you have any examples on how you use it?
Any tips?
