Business card battery tester for electronics dealer?

My client is an elctronics dealer and I thought it would be cool if their business card had a battery tester strip like on Energizers. I don't really know where to start. Anybody have any experience with thermographics and conductive ink?

I saw your post and wanted to show you these guys... They offer custom high end design. They are nationally known for their Silk Business Cards.

Wow, thanks lisa. I can honestly say that I have never felt so inspired by someone else's work :) I usually try to avoid looking at other designer's stuff so that I can be sure to create design that is the product of pure originality. But these guys are truly magnificent! I'm so happy that their are designers such as yourself who give help to young designers and encourage open and unassuming dialogue in forums like CB.

Cheers!

ps. because of your gentle guidance I've decided to design not to please my client but to impress the cool designers that I look up to--so I'm going to try the silk cards (FAB idea!)

Are you serious? "Not to please my client" vs "Impress the cool designers"? Lisa's been a bad influence.

If you're dying for inspiration I'd suggest "http://creativebits.org/cool_business_card_designs" and "http://creativebits.org/cool_business_card_designs_part_2"

lisa is the equivalent of an ad bot.

weak.

and mintsauce is right. unless your response was sarcastic (if so, i apologize), your job is to solve the client's problem. if that impresses designers, so be it. but impressing other designers should never be your goal, unless that's the client's goal.

I guess I was in a touchy mood and before I realized Lisa wasn't real I wrote that response. I thought that Lisa was attacking my idea (I know that a business card battery tester might be a little gimmicky etc.) When I visited that 'taste of ink' site It was so bad I thought it was a mock.

Do people actually buy services from those people?

I honestly thought this was a conversation between 2 spammers.

If only we could divert spammers into decoy sites and just let them spam each other for eternity until their servers boil over and explode like a scene from the old Star Trek!

Darling, if it's any consolation to you at all, I totally got the sarcasm and enjoyed it very much. Lisa's "helpful suggestion" deserved every bit of it.

Now let's get back to your interesting idea.

I don't have a clue how you would do this, other than to simply simulate the battery tester look by bleeding a foil imprint across the card, either vertically or horizontally. The colors are limited, assuming you go with a low-cost gang shop, but most of them have a holographic silvery foil that could be fun to use.

For what it's worth, I think your idea is clever. Maybe it's been done before, but if so, I haven't seen it yet, and your client probably hasn't either.

I liked your response krisM. It gave me a chuckle on a stressed, overloaded day. Methinks the spammers are becoming smarter...
