Paul, this is nearly illegible -- is that supposed to reinforce the idea of night? If so, that's pretty self-deafeating fora a designer, don't you think?
BTW, you've also got a trimming nightmare there on the right edge; give yourself at least 1/8 inch margin.
The whole PM = night = moon thing doesn't work. Are you selling your skills as a designer, or trying to force people to follow a minor and ultimately meaningless tangent, hoping that if they do, they'll come to the end believing you to be clever with words? That isn't a solid enough concept on which to build a professional identity, unless maybe you're a professional mystic.
Have you been sketching different ideas? Why are you sticking with the moon?
Why don't you sit down and make yourself a list of the things that come to mind when you think of yourself. What sort of items or images represent YOU in a design capacity? What do you associate with yourself? There has to be more than just your initials being the same as those that represent the latter part of the day.
You're keeping yourself locked in this box. You need to approach it from a whole new perspective. It's very easy to get stuck in a rut, believe me. You just have to know when to back off and take a different tack.
i would say either agree with something specific someone else said (nothing wrong with that, it reinforces the point that person was trying to make and let's the OP know that more people share that opinion) or add some specific criticisms.
just saying, "i don't like it" or "it's crap" or something like that really doesn't add anything to the discussion. if you ever said something like that in a college level critique, a good teacher would force you to give a specific criticism. "i don't like it" isn't constructive, just dismissive.
The colors won't work when printed, and the placement of the moon between the vertical lines bother me, it makes it seem just so so flat. I wouldn't go for all caps on the contact information- it's hard to read and doesn't contrast well with your name. Going back to the horizontal lines- I would remove them as they are there only to fill up space. For the colors- why don't you mess around with a dark navy blue a pale yellow and white- it might be a better direction and it won't get all muddy.
I like the idea of the moon- for me it says that you work well into the night- you take your job seriously and are dedicated past the normal 9-5 (but hey, what good designer isn't?? :-) )
Personally i like it, i think i would flip the details and the moon/lines round so that when reversed the moon and lines become a P.
I like these colours, i like how they feel together. Creating a feeling of night time is tough, but i think you have pulled it off here.
16 billion colours and you choose the one i cant create !??!
Thanks for the input. I think its time to step back and take a new direction. Im new to this site and I've been really impressed with the level of crits. Guess its back to the drawing board.
A few stars in the "sky" would help with the night concept, but as most everyone else agrees - there has to be a better resolution to this. I didn't even catch the "PM" connection until it was pointed out in the original thread.
On another note - you should also keep in mind that fonts are not designed to be used as all capitals (or small caps). Lower case letters conform to each other - capital letters do not. Therefore you should rarely (if ever) use all caps, but if you do - kern the heck out of them. Either way - I wouldn't recommend caps on a designer's card.
You're all wearing the same shirt... how embarrassing. Just noticed how I used avatars to identify people on this site, as opposed to their name. Little confusing for a moment.
Creativebits is a blog about creativity, design and Macs. We also have a critique section where you can post your work to get opinions and a forum to discuss any design related topics.

Like all are commenting It's all wrong, I don't know exactly how I can start my comment.
I could reply: "Like __________ told it's all wrong".

don't panic just sit down and wait.

i have no idea what that means in this context. "panic" doesn't apply to anything i said.

Terrible. You took about 4 steps behind with this one.
Also Mara makes a great point in re: to the PM concept. This is going to have to be really creative if you want to push that concept.

Yeah, that's why I decided to stay, too. There is a TON to learn from most of these people. I consider it a valuable resource.
