Can anyone help with Internet Explorer (shudder)?

I have uninstalled IE8 in WIndows 7 but want to reinstall for general website checking (it pains me to do it!). However I got the following message telling me IE8 was incompatible with Windows 7 as is Windows 7. Anyone know why or how to fix it?

Sorry about that... I think your screenshot, combined with a screenshot of this page: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/internet-explorer/ is a perfect candidate for failblog.org

Maybe those features are only available with the "New Edition of Windows 7". I guess it's just old, I see the screenshot says Copyright 2009 MS Corp, it's 2010 already, so it must be outdated.

;)

Seriously: Have you heard of IETester? Nice piece of software. No need for all those standalone versions. http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage

If you keep your ears open, you'll see better.

I would almost be laughing at it if wasn't so ridiculous - especially after testing with (now multiple) versions of IE. Oh well, off to failblog.org

In regards to IETester - no I haven't seen it before, but I'll definitely go and check it out.
Thanks for your help.

Internet Explorer 8 is part of the Windows 7 operating system, so it
can't be removed or reinstalled.

In any case, reinstalling Internet Explorer almost never solves a problem.

Unfortunately, you haven't provided any details about your "rendering
issues" so no one can help you with them.

Experience has shown that practically every problem with a web browser
(be it Internet Explorer or most other browsers) is caused by one or
more of:
1- incompatible add-ons -- determined by running the browser in 'no
add-ons' mode;
2- incorrect configuration settings -- resolved by resetting the browser
to default settings -- in Internet Explorer this accomplished by
Resetting Internet Explorer Settings (RIES);
3- malware; and
4- improper installation (which doesn't apply to your situation.)

The harder you fall, the higher you bounce.

Not sure if these will help - I've been using SuperPreview: http://expression.microsoft.com/en-us/dd565874.aspx - a (free) part of Microsoft's expression web package to test sites in IE6 and 7 (along with Adobe's browser lab: https://browserlab.adobe.com/index.html when I don't feel like rebooting into Windows)

These work well for general visual testing though they aren't as useful for checking UI or other functional testing.

Thanks for the links, guys.

Do I need to mention again the cure-all for every Windows problem? Switch to Mac.

Okay - couldn't resist.

Well, you should give the error (what is your error message)here I think, it will be more helpful to solve out your problem. window installing once again is not a solution from my point of view.
