"candishoppe"
"candice melrose"

If you could have made the buisness card an ACTUAL lolipop! ;)

Very good idea and not even unreasonable.
I actually like it a lot. My ONLY gripe would be to change the text color—maybe to orange? That light blue really is difficult to read. I think orange would look really cool with the light blue background, and they would complement each other.
Good job.
P.S. Is this card a tri-fold?

no, it's a regular business card. shown in the pic are the front, then the back, and then just a close-up to show the detail on the lollipop and the wordmark.
the corners of the card are rounded.
thanks for the comments guys!
and you're right, i bet orange would look hot. i'll eyedrop a nice orange from that lollipop and use it.
I agree with you about orange, Suz. That would add just the right bite. I think this is way fun. I'd patronize the place on the strength of the card alone.
But then, you should see my hair...

she does great work! and doing this card earned me free haircuts for life!
gotta love the perks of being a designer...sometimes. ;)
I like the font you selected, but I would not use it for everything. I would do a logotype that is based on this font but unique and put it in the middle of the colored circle.
the typeface used for the wordmark is Linoscript. (such a good one) and you're right, it needs to be more unique, I'm going to print it out and doodle some swirls and such to personalize it more.
I like the font you chose and the colorful picture. Because it's not immediately recognizable as a hair salon, maybe on the back you could list her specialties whether hair color, extensions, etc. I also think the rounded corners were a good idea. I actually like the blue, but maybe because I'm partial to blue. I would bet that it shows up better in print than on screen.

yes it does look better in print. I'm *hoping* she is willing to splurge on a spot varnish on top of the lollipop to make it nice and shiny against the matte finish stock it's going to be printed on. that should really make the candy pop.
edit// raised ink for the wordmark and contact info would look good too. but I don't think she has the budget for that...
Nice work!
I'm a huge fan of spot varnishes. I sure hope she pops for that.
