Caricature Business Logo Part 3
vicho friedli (28 pencils) | Fri, 2010-10-15 18:37Hey guys! After my last post, I'm a bit scared to post this...
The design for my logo has taken far too long, so I finally decided to go with this one.
The "brief" is as follows:
1.- Works in small sizes/prints
2.- Is friendly, fun, casual
3.- Caricatures are all about the face.
4.- Works in black and white.
I also posted treatments in 2 colors, black and white and different colored backgrounds.
Ok.That's it. :S Thanks for your comments.

Better, but looks somewhat Arabic.
Would also explore more font possibilities.
BIG step backwards my friend. The more you work on this the worse it looks. Your first round had much more promise. This looks like a Hindu symbol more than anything.

I'm very lost here. What exactly was so great about my sketches? Up to now, all I could say is that they were great just because they were sketches. The illustrator images I posted was just a cleanup of the sketches.
I'm not discussing or fighting or anything. I just don't get it.
Ah, they were raw, artistic and had great personality! This seems sterile. There's no passion in this logo. Besides feeling like a religious symbol, it's doesn't really tell much of what you do, and the fact that it *could* resemble a face outweighs the fact that it actually *is* a face.
Like wgzn said, keep it loose.

its pretty at first glance. then i start trying to break it down and dont know whats going on.
b/w version looks like LCS
I actually like the idea a lot. A few tweaks here and there and you would be set. It does have an arabic feel to it, but I'm sure you can iron that out. The type face needs the most work. Hideous.
Why is it so hideous? I tried to use a font that would match the lines of the drawing (it's the best I found).
its not hideous. just the existing arrangement, colors, text. just come together in an uneasy way.
youre on the right track from the original sketches. but keep it more "loose"
I think it's better than last, has a paper, and traces but still think you have skills to draw a more funny logo with more classy typo.
yes I'm brazilian xD
All i'm seeing are the initials CS. Is that intentional?
living on dreams and custard creams.
I think if you do another swirly eye/eyebrow on the right that you would obtain the element of fun and yet still remain an iconic representation of your area of expertise.
Caricature.dot com I would handwrite.

I'm torn here...
On the one hand, I think this version has more life than anything posted in the last round. This doesn't look like a computer piece because the lines have nice variety of shape and width, etc... So that part I like. And the face is more interesting and lively than the other set as well.
OTOH... It does read like an arabic symbol now. Changing the colors might help in that regard, but I really think the face needs tweaking.
I thought it was a guy boxing a snake, no shit.
Just to show you what I saw.
This cannot be unseen.

i kinda like the mark but i really hate the font
looks like a strange symbol
The mark has promise to me. I think you need to rotate a few points at once...rotate tool will help that mug- just sayin' The "S" aspect of the face is distracting. Just keep playing with the face. It's a great idea and I've created so many lines like that- the lines them selves fit the feel I"m going for but when they're bold and together something breaks. That happens to me a lot when I put it down first with pencil.
Also, I think the gradients in the strokes take away from idea. I think they're visually appealing but hurt your sell. Less depth is going to maintain the marker style of a caricature.
I agree that there's an issue with the font. I might scope blambot.com for some better hand written artist font or something.
Good luck and don't let criticism get you down!
