Chinese Style Chicken is Easy. . . Wok

An unpublished campaign idea. Basically with a few simple ingredients and the product in question you can make a delicious dish (in this case Chinese Style chicken) in 30 minutes or less. :)

I think you can improve your illustration, by not using illustrator brushes. Also, the font maybe is fine for a headline, but not all of the copy. And why is there a chicken head in the wok?

It was actually a rough layout that i was toying with. They dropped the product in the end so it never went to final production. . .
Basically: The chicken would have become a "character" (like Killroy was here) in ALL the communications. . .

"Easy Wok" . . .I hate that tagline - it's used by a Chinese restaurant in my area, so I imagine it has also been used many times before that. It's so cheesy - like that horrible "Seafood diet" joke. >< I would definitely ditch that concept.
I won't even go into how gross the idea of a chicken head in a wok is. Doesn't even matter that I'm vegetarian.

I didn't even recognize the wok occupant as a chicken head--thought it was some sort of organic fold-over.
Also, I've learned never to portray the animal that you're eating. People don't like to think about where it really came from. Instead of the bird, maybe portray a cascade of vegetables that would accompany each meal style?

I think you're portraying this client as a KFC or similar company who literally boils their chickens before they kill them.
Not cool. I don't think this is a good marketing strategy AT ALL. People do NOT want to think about their animal being cooked alive. Especially a happy little cartoon animal. Can you use noodles or vegetables instead?
I LOVE the picket line one, "I need some excitement" I'm smirking at that one. Very catchy that the chicken is excited about getting put into this meal.
-also a vegetarian but that's besides the point.
haha. everytime i think of a cartoon animal as a food mascot i think of that Saturday Night Live commercial. Look it up on youtube its hilarious!
Different market than the North American re: animal imagery usage in food products? Was working away here and remembered that Africa(?) has the image of what's actually inside the package for those who are illiterate. I recall Gerber baby foods receiving a lot of flack for the cute little baby face on their jar and cereal products. Not too many people are going to buy something with baby in it.

I think the illustration could use more motion, with the brush effect maybe use it to give the wok a sense of it giving off heat or flames. Definitely want the wok to be more defined though the rough edges lose it a bit.
And i know the image is small but the text is too hard to read in that font and all the different colors make it harder.
I agree on the Tag being Cheesy. But I also believe that's what Copy Writers are for.
My current CD wrote the copy! LOL That was when he was a Copy Writer b4!
Really this was just trying to do something funny and engaging. It didn't go very far beyond this as the job was basically canceled. :P But I love it because of the little things that make it humorous, the chicken poking out looks so 'evil' lol I just couldn't help myself. Besides WHAT CAN you do with a crappy clip art pic of a chicken! :)
I like the font and yes because the jpg is small its not easily readable BUT it was for a poster size so it looks a BIT more legible! These days I would have used the "Heroes' Font instead I like that font for this in hind sight. :)
Thanks for all the comments. I still laugh when I look at it. . . I actually have it up on my cubicle wall for inspiration because this client has gone south with their ideas of late and it reminds me of when I used to go brave with my ideas, no matter how 'silly' they turned out to be! :)

It needs to be "everyday routine" but "create an exciting meal every day." You're welcome.
The chicken in the wok is a ghastly idea. And yes, I am a vegetarian -- mostly vegan, in fact. But even if I weren't, it's still ghastly. I thought it was one of the Seven Dwarfs, though. It doesn't say "chicken" to me.
The Illustrator brush you used for the top edge of the wok calls too much attention to itself. Consider actually drawing the wok and scanning the result, or stick to the standard brushes, which are more in keeping with a smooth metal subject that would have reflections such as the ones you've included on the right side.
Is "easy wok" just a teeny bit offensive?
Speaking of which, and just so you know I *do* have an evil sense of humor, I like the name of the Chinese restaurant in "South Park."
