Hi Everyone,
Noob here. This is a logo i have had in my head for a while now for a coffee shop called "Let's Do...." as in let's do lunch I suppose.
The L and D are positioned to create a coffee cup. Now I have actually made the logo it doesn't seem quite as good as i had in my mind's eye. Does anyone have any advice?

"Let's Do..." is the catch phrase which generates interest. It must have prominence. So much so that any icon would detract from it. I would do a straight typographic treatment.
Though I can appreciate the LD, it's not communicating very well as a coffee cup. The 'let's Do...' is getting in the way, for one.
Without my sense of direction, I don't know where I'd be.
The let's do concept, it could be interesting, catchy. This logo? Boring. The idea of having the L and the D in a cup formation great. But you need to push it a little more. It's needs to be more evident.

at first glance, i see "UP:
maybe if the horizontal part of the L were longer?

I didn't see the coffee mug at all until reading your brief. Some thing you might want to try in order to have the mug be more apparent is if the top of the L and the D are level. Also maybe try adding a steam to the mug or coffee in the mug, I'm not sure what but I think it needs another element to bring the mug to light.
Love the concept. Work at it a lot more. Curves might work. Would love to see what you come up with. Try rough sketching it to get more of a feel of what you have in mind.

Thanks for the comments. I honestly haven't forgotten about this but currently my computer is out of action. I have had a crack a creating a more obvious cup using the L and D on my work computer at lunch time. Let me know if you think this is nearer the mark.
By the way I know it's a bit scruffy. I had food to eat, what can I say...
This new version looks more like a cup, but don't fall in love with one idea. Brainstorm on other things and you might come up with something better or lightning might strike on this one and you find the key to making it work. Quite honestly this is not a world beater imho - it's more like a filler option to give the client more than one choice. You can do better. Coffee has a ton of visuals associated with it - fertile ground for ideas.
