Commit type in InDesign
jesscampbell (79 points) | Mon, 2006-09-11 17:35Is there a shortcut in InDesign to commit the type you have entered? For instance, in Photoshop you can press the "Enter" key on the number pad to commit, and in Flash the "Escape" key.
Many thanks.

In InDesign you almost always use the Tab-key to commit something. I automatically jumps to the next option in every menu.

Hitting the tab key will serve only to insert a tab in the text box. What he is talking about is when you are entering text in a text box, not a dialog box.
To "commit" the text you have to deselect the text box. The quickest way I know is to hit Command+Shift+A.

Thanks Jim, that's exactly what I was looking for. I *heart* hotkeys. Hahah.
This should speed up the workflow for me a bit.
Cheers.
You're very welcome!
