community consultants round 4
tonyvz (107 pencils) | Wed, 2007-06-06 14:43So after a meeting with the marketing department, I showed them a few samples and they like dthe speech bubbles but also liked this abstract shape. It's actually just the letter C repeated in a circular pattern and then I used the lovely 'live colour' tool in AI to colour it in. (I love that tool)
Do you guys like the white outline to help define the shape? I'm digging the red and brown more than the red and blue.
Anyways...it looks like they're leaning towards this rather than the speech bubbles. Meh, no biggie, I'm a fan of this one too. It's just a little generic to me...however, I'm sure you all know of the constant battle between design and marketing. hahaha

EDIT//
feel free to rip apart the kerning and everything else, these versions are 99% finalized.
I like number 3 the best. The brown color looks better to me than the blue, and the outlines make the logo shape quite a bit better looking. It's a crisp clean logo, though indeed somewhat generic.
Yeah, I agree, number three has potential. I would have never guessed that was the letter c repeated, but I think a lot of the fun and challenge of identity design is working typography into a relevant symbol. I also like the white outlines, it creates more of an intertwining effect that reinforces the whole community concept. The red and brown is a good call, it's still professional and doesn't give off a generic vibe like the red a blue. Fun stuff!
Although the white may fill in at smaller sizes, but I really like it. Good job!
yes, methinks a slightly thicker white line is needed.
thanks for the input guys!!
Sorry I didn't chime in on this yesterday. My DSL was behaving sluggishly or something, and I couldn't even get the CB site to come up for me. Yes, I think your #3 design is the winner. You might want to close up the kerning of "con" just a hair, but that's nitpicking in the extreme. In addition to the remarks you and othjers have made about the "circular c" design, I feel the folk-art (could be a quilt design) lends a cozy community feeling to the project that's very appropriate. It also emphasizes the complexity of communication -- that it's not just a two-way, static exchange, but an ongoing dialog, or should be, anyway. Good luck!

You're not alone in that!
I super dooper like this, except it's almost the same as the BP logo. Sorry :!
life is great; without it, you'd be dead.
