Compositing Help...
I have this project (NDA or else I'd show you) that I'm helping out on and I need to take an object (all black) and composite it onto body parts as a tattoo. I've never done this but have done a little reasearch on the web, to no real avail. I know that the Multiply blending mode is going to be a must but does anyone have any other tips? Basically what I have is the photo and a layer above it (the object) with a mask and then I do an Image > Apply Image... set the mode to Multiply in there using the source as the object and applying it to the photo at 100% opacity, making sure the mask and layer aren't linked after 'OK'ing it.
Is there any rather painless way of doing this, because this technique just doesn't look all that great. Or do I need to do this mostly manually?

I think Liquify is going to be your friend for this job. Once you have the right shape you may want to duplicate the layer and make a highlighted area. I can do a tutorial for this if you want.
That post helps, but it also
That post helps, but it also doesn't. Since the object will be placed on a few areas of the body (forearm, calf, thigh) which are all relatively smooth, only slightly rounded, I'm not sure that this will work so much. I wouldn't see how to create a displacement map for this kind of situation. I'm using this photo as a reference to more or less how it should look (rather blueish grey and not so perfect, maybe even faded at points:
Any tips with liquify, I've never really used it! (gasp) If you've got time for a tutorial I won't be the one to stop you!
