Connecting Wacom Intuos 2

Hey all,
I'm brand new to this forum and also new to the Mac OSX. I own a MacBook Pro 2008 version. I also own a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet with a serial cable that I used on my older PC. I since then bought a serial to USB adapter from Radio Shack to connect my tablet to my PC and it worked fine. Presently I work on a Mac and I'd like to get my tablet to work on it. I found a driver on Apple's website:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/pl2303usbtoserialdriver.html

I installed the driver but the Mac still does not recognize the tablet. I found some information on: http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-769327.html
; but I have no idea what any of this means. I gather that I have to type in a command in the "terminal" to get the tablet to work. HELP!

I really appreciate it.

Do you mean to say that it doesn't work at all? Not even mousing?
