Converting fonts to outlines/paths

I just wondered if other people have problems with pdf and eps files received where fonts have not been converted to outlines/paths/curves?
So, when you open it in illustrator, if you don't have the required fonts installed, the fonts are substituted making the design look wrong.

Whoever made the pdf forgot to d/l the fonts to the file. You either need the fonts included in the file or you need to have the font loaded in your system. Otherwise... default.
