Converting image files and upload via ftp using Automator/AS?

So I'm one of those guys who can never have a iChat conversation without pasting pictures and screenshots and whatnot. But then, what to do when either a) the transfer fails (like it so often does with AIM) or b) friends use other IM networks (MSN)?

The idea I got was to make a automator action that will take whatever is on my clipboard, convert it into a jpg, upload it to my webserver, and put the URL back on clipboard. Preferably silently (ie. no opening of heavy apps).

Image conversion is one problem - and I don't wanna go via Photoshop. File transfer might be another issue? I guess I *could* go via Transmit, its fairly lightweigt. Or just make a shell script or something...

Any views? Would this be at all possible in an easy way?

It's not an automator app, but a full fledged mini app. You can paste in the image you want and press send. It will automatically put the url on to your clipboard (you can even specify the type of tags you want with it). The later was my idea and Hagen implemented it. :)

Wow, who knew saving the day could be that easy! With some fooling around, I got it just the way I wanted. Superb! Time to rip down the Britney-posters - you are my new hero.

The last version of Transmit has automator actions to automatically download, upload or synchronise files.
