Wow!

Wow - that's a wild reason to move to a new country - for work alone! But, I guess lots of people relocate for work, so I don't know why it is so out of place for me to think of moving to a new country just to do graphic design. ;)

Sorry, no recommendations for you. I imagine so long as it isn't a third world country, there should be lots of opportunities for you to hone your design skills. I'd just recommend studying up on the country as a whole before making the big move.

But that's just me - I'm a planner and preparer - not much of the spontaneous type.

Good luck in whatever you find!

Ahh the bliss

of living in the first world! We third world people's need better opportunities! Can we get that by moving to a first world nation? Maybe. . . maybe not?

thoughts?

Ireid my man

I would trade places with you in a heart beat, settle down in hot & sunny Trinidad with all my peeps and create art and sell it to make a living...if it wasn't for the fact that my folks would marry me off to some chick the minute I get off the plane!

The good thing about freelance though: You can be anywhere in the world...provided you have electricity and internet of course! ;)

then you should REALLY try living here!

Oh and letssee: flour rationing and rice shortages (but that's in the US too so no biggy! :))

$4 for a doubles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubles_%28food%29) you've GOT to be kidding! lol

Technically the US isn't

Technically the US isn't rationing, they are 'limiting purchases to minimize the drain on world supplies'. We've got more rice than we can use in this country...

Sorry man

You lost my interest at " 4$ doubles". That's a crime agaist humanity if I ever heard of one!

The grass isn't always greener

ireid's Trinidad sounds like most major cities in North America. Our cost of living and violent crimes are on the rise, food rations are being subliminally implemented, and major work layoffs are negatively impacting our economy.

So, in answer to your question, the world's a changing place. Only you can make the choice where you wish to hang your hat.

:p

My comment definitely didn't mean offense, and if I offended any, I do sincerely apologize.

Don't think third world countries awful at all, I just wonder about the ability to be as free to express yourselves artistically in some countries (NOT all!!!!!!!)

I shall stop there as I'm sure I'll just keep digging myself further into a big deep hole.

3dogmama's picture

Hey,

Hey, I don't think you offended anyone. I think people on this site just like to share a bit of who they are, where they come from, etc..

And man, talking about hole-digging, I've buried myself in some doosies, as I'm pretty sure many other CBers here have too.

When you're up to your mouth in. . .

. . . don't open you mouth! :)

Doesn't work for me though. . . I ALWAYS put my foot in it and then put my foot in my mouth. . . lol

things to concider:

your immigration qualifications.

it's not always as easy as you might think it is to move from one country to another. Believe, i know first hand as a Canadian immigrating to the U.S. and that's between two of the worlds single largest trade partners AND the fact that i'm married to an american citizen.

Answer some questions truthfully first

Please consider the question why you are fed up working at your country truthfully first. Is this something that can be rectified simply by a different geography?

3dogmama mentioned the grass isn't always greener elsewhere, but the flip side is also true that the grass is greener on the other side, if we forgot to water our own grass because we are too busy looking at others.

In this light, maybe it's more important to hone your skills, increase your marketability, keep learning and keep up with the latest technology. In another word, work on things you have control over.

.....

Hi my friend, actually im from india & working in uae. whats the main problem is here, no value for my designs & not paid worthably.

And also i have to learn a new language specially for them, but thats not a problem.

ireid's picture

Welcome to the wonderful world of Graphic Design

no value for my designs & not paid worthably.

Meh that's a universal problem. You're in one of the richest countries in the world! How long have you been a graphic artist? Not dumping on you personally, mind you, but once you work REALLY hard you will begin to see opportunities develop. You've already done what most have not even tried to do, you left Mother India to go to the U.A.E! suck up as much experience as you can!

Agreed. Graphic design is in

Agreed. Graphic design is in a state of flux and because of the computer it's easy for lots of people to get into the field, but it's still difficult to excel at it. So keep at it, you will get noticed and as your skills grow, so will your salary.

Remember, you only get what you negotiate.
