Following up on Qwertytales suggestion (i love it), I have completely ripped it off, it looks good to me. I think my client will like this. All i have done is get it working in a grid, and added a few mundane details.

Someone on here mentioned Occam's Razor, I guess that is what I should be trying to do. Rather than filling space. I guess that comes from years in the publishing industry, cramming spaces with adverts.

Obviously, the design won't have the mac wrapped round it, I just wanted to show it centralised. 'Orignal' is still at 100%

Huge improvement, Cheers Q.

All critique gladly received.

you made valuable corrections. you know every layout could be improved xD (it's OK for one day work) and that's enough for a while, just want to contribute with some little details

the logo is big, you could shrink a little up to align top of "groundwork" to buttons top. or you could maintain because client likes it bigger xD

on last sketch the address was right aligned and it failed the left side align
now you have to decide if you'll maintain left align for "follow us here" because "here" bottom has weight and power to control it

that block formed a tiny square... it's not good. Add more XXXX to address to show that there is more room up to right grid.

the text block need baseline alignment. not top align. like flash image baseline is good for align it.

"follow us here" is not part of text block and could live independent as distinct element but it's near text block only by semiotic similarity. and "join for our mail list" is right aligned too =]

You need some text line for the footer. simply put Copyrights and webdesigner signature with different grayscale.

____________

I think these brainstormings are valuable because we're near the solution for one or two hours more working on original like we do playing with puzzles. =]

caoimghgin contributed when he told this is near Fibonacci proportion that I studied (Alexandre Wollner, brazilian master logo designer, uses a lot) but I still never used on web =]

that's why we like forums and sometimes we need to show the sketch to improve the level of conversations because we know image works better than thousand words.

I think it's going to lose something if you remove the iMac.

It is to small to have a good look. But my first impression is that it run of the mill.

Yes it looks small but I think architects need blank spaces... and it's the startup, they'll add contents and photos, icons, badges, banners and other stuffs.

the critical point is organization. they are sick for it. xD
