Creativebits new design
Ivan | Fri, 2009-07-24 15:12I'm working on updating the design of creativebits to match the other sites that are part of the same family, such as adsoftheworld.com and brandsoftheworld.com and to allow for a bigger sidebar that can include an easier overview of the recent content on critique and forum. It also lets me add a large rectangle ad which is requested by advertisers as banners and skyscrapers are not as great for communication. I would like to get your opinion on this layout. I'm still tweaking it, but it would be great to hear your opinion.

HI Ivan, I've been dreaming about a new CB design. Good to see you're working on it. I mostly like it.
The light grey in Column Right feels to intrusive though. It's stealing attention from the main Column Left.
The font on "Latest forum topics" also feels a little large in comparison to the body font of Column Left.
As for the rest: Shweet!
I like how you differentiate between the 4 Main Menu items and the rest. Hwo are you going to do this? (Are these primary and secondary links - Drupal) or are you going to use some CSS trickery?
The dropdowns are a great idea.

Yes, as you said, the tabs are primary links and the rest of the menu are the secondary links in Drupal terminology.
Something I haven't thought of doing... awesome.

Nice Design
90% creative yet.
Looks good, a little busy, but good.
Are you going to bring back the "Tarmac" theme? :D

Dirt and Rust
Yes, I will as a second step. And, it will look like Ads of the World essentially in terms of colors.
Love the 'pencils'!
Great re-design - can't wait to use it.
Looks pretty nice! I have to agree that the right column seems to be the main focus right now, if you could do something to highlight the left column instead as it is the main content.
I really like the moving of the logo up in line with the ad banner at the top. I always hate it when above-the-fold vertical space is wasted by advertisements.
Anyway, I like it a lot better than the current design (not that the current one is bad by any means)
