...but I like this! Getting rid of the second cross was a good idea, and just keeping the icon is cool. I'm afraid for the "community church" and if it will be seen on a business card or stationary. It seems a little light too (the words "community church") This is good.

community church is a bit too light if scaled down
The kerning in the word "cross" seems much tighter than the word "pointe" and kind of looks awkward. I don't know if it's just the "po" that is giving it that impression?? Definitely kern o to s, p to o, o to i, and n to t.
It's the "PO" it's probably a good idea to kern those. Thanks for the advice!.
=)
I think it might be the font style itself. The 'S' seem out of proportion to the first 3 letters (cro) and that is also fooling the eye.
Or I'm just cross-eyed.
Either way, good improvement on the first go.

you may be cross-eyed, btetzl... ;)
seriously, though, i didn't see the Ss as out of proportion. so i zoomed in on them in PS and they're definitely the proper height and stroke weight.
i agree that the kerning is pretty far off, tho. especially oi, nt, and te.
i might consider punching the color up a bit, the yellow/orange comes through kind of flat. maybe it's made worse by being with the grays, but there's really no punch color wise. and maybe stick with one shade of gray instead of using 3. preferably a darker one. or a warm pantone gray.
Yup, kerning. Definitely needs work.
I personally don't like the copperplate for the smaller font. I would also make "community church" extend farther to the right. It seems unbalanced right now.
Wow, you almost directly copied my example in the last critique. Talk about taking something literally. Can I have my money now?

I thought the same thing.
I wondered about that myself. You should get at least 25% :-)

Sorry! I was trying to take the principals you gave me and tried to work with it.
=x
Well, you definitely taught me a lesson. I won't give examples of what I mean anymore.
There is a difference between using the principles I address and copying my example. Your karma, though.

This used to happen quite frequently on here maybe a year or so ago, which is why it is now standard practice to NOT give any actual examples.
sammybunny: Not cool.

This one's a lot better, but why two different fonts?

FYI. I was driving today and saw this logo on a bench. Close to yours and same name!

I was reading this interesting article a few months ago about inspired designed (rip offs, coincidences, call them what you will) and this is situation reminded me of it. Also thought I'd share it with you if you haven't read it already:
