If you create custom settings you can save those settings by clicking the arrow to the right of the drop down box where your current settings are (jpg 30 low etc)

Quick:

- Create your settings
- Click arrow, and choose save settings
- Give your settings a name and save
- The setting you just made will appear in the drop down box.

Regarding changing the default ones, im not sure but you could always delete them from your presets directory and make your own with the same name?

hope that helps !

Thanks. But how do I change the default setting that is not the one in the list. The one that is used by default when I just choose the save for web menu? Am I making sense?

Whenever you change the options in the Save for Web dialog box, Photoshop retains those settings, even after you quit the application. This works even if you change the settings from those in any of the Presets.

I have Photoshop CS, so other versions may be different.

Aha. I experimented and realized that it actually saves a setting for each psd file. So the default can be jpeg 30 for one document and gif 256 for another. Thank you guys for the clarification!
