Desktop Background Help Needed, Please.

Hello,

I found some really great pixel patterns, desktop background patterns at sites such as k10k.net and others.

These are graphic patterns that need to be repeated to complete an entire desktop background.

I apologize for asking such a beginner type question, but how would I use these "pieces" of a pattern that I can download for an entire desktop picture. The size of the pattern image is around 20 by 20 pixels.

I don't know how make the desktop background system preference allow me to set the chosen pattern to fill the size of screen I want to use.

I hope I am not insulting anyone with such a trivial question.

Thank you very much!

hey dood.. if you are just talking about using a tiled pattern as a desktop in windows, you just right click on your desktop > Properties

then click Desktop... Click the browse button to find the pattern you want to use.. select it and chose Tiled in the "position" pull down menu.

Thanks for the hint, but I don't have that option in the desktop preferences menu in OS 10.3.6.

Are you talking about windows?

Put your graphic in the "Pictures" folder (just to make it easy). Then, go into your System Preferences and click the "Desktop & Screensaver" icon.

In the list of desktop pictures/locations on the left, click the "Pictures" folder from the list on the left. Then click on your "tile" image from the preview on the right. Once you do that, a drop down menu should appear above giving you the option to set the image to "tile."

Ivan...

The links to purchase the vector versions of your patterns and arabesques are broken. Are you no longer offering them for sale?

BTW..I have dropped the link into the Adobe Photoshop Lounge Resource Repository (which I administer).

Hello,

I am the original poster of this topic. I really appreciate all of your help and expertise!

I fully understand the process you have so fully described.

What is not happening for me is the drop menu is not available to me when I select the tile image. I have the most current version of OS X, with all updates.

I don't know how and where the drop down menu has gone.

I have included a screenshot of my preferences window.

this site was created for a client, who didn't pay for all the work, so I took the site down. i think the low res images can be used freely, but don't take my word for it. the samples can be used for free for sure.
