DHCC

Attached are concepts for Detroit Healthcare Career Center logo.

DHCCs goal is helping Detroiters get on the path to self-sufficiency and
to provide qualified workers to local employers in the healthcare industry.

In other words... they teach a course preparing students for the healthcare industry. The center offers career coaches, help with housing, child care, debt management and other perks to it students... the program is free.

Mark should be accessable, approachable and professional.

At the client request I need to stay in the blues and greens for colors.
Though, I will be presenting alternates.

Looking forward to your comments.

Great start. I think these are quite successful. The only one I'd be hesitant about is the second one. While it is visually aesthetic, I don't read it as DHCC.

I feel the type treatment of the two lower ones is more successful and creates a nice balance in relation to your marks.

Nice work

I think you may be right Olliesan, I wanted to give them an option based on acronyms, that is the vernacular style for many of the detroit works projects...
Typically these are set in Helvetica (or offshoot of) Bold. I want to at least get the client thinking outside of that box.

But with all that said, what good is an acronym that is illegible? I'm still curious what other people see there.

I've posted a second option based on the letters, but it abstracts them even more. I guess I'm not looking for this version to read as DHCC, but rather imply that the letters are creating something larger.*

*Note: this is not a correction based on your comment, as I was working this up when you posted. Just another direction.

I really appreciate what you have going with the 2nd variation. I think it could be really effective if you were to kern in the "C" and the D" so the edges of the implied "H" were defined by the edges of your "C" and "D".

Overall very nice work.

I see the hidden 'H' in the acronym but I doubt the average Joe would make the connection. Some may see a religious type cross in version two. (not sure that's the 'raising up' to create something larger association you necessarily want) ;)

I REALLY like the new 'Jumping Man' design you posted. It is very positive and extremely well done. All of the concepts you've created are possibilities but I feel this one jumps up and grabs you. DIN is a nice clean choice for the typeface but can you explain the reasoning behind making 'Career Center' larger in that version?

DIN is a favorite of mine, but this is actually TVNord.

DHCC spelled out is very long. I wanted to break this up into easily digestible chunks. In some of the IDs I've made 'Detroit Healthcare' larger, in others the 'Career Center'. (I've tried stacking this on three lines with little success).

While in reality there is no real emphasis on the first or second I do have my own thoughts for each rational. Strangely enough I can explain them both by saying this:

This is a Detroit project for Detroiters.

Rational 1.
Detroit larger puts emphasis on the fact that it's exclusive to Detroiters.
(though it's actually a very inclusive group).

The fact that 'healthcare' is made larger as well is okay too... says right up front what they are in for.

Rational 2.
This is a project from a Detroit Works group, taking place in the City of Detroit, for the people of Detroit... fairly redundant. To emphasize Career Center instead plays up the fact that this is the place to come for career guidance.

I'm tweaking type renditions for some of the original creative as we speak. I'll post if I have time before deadline approaches.

I'll have to get the old eyes calibrated because TVNord sure looked like DIN to me. :(

Thanks for the sharing your thought process. I see where you're coming from and totally agree.

I just took another look at the 'Jumping Man' and see a very hidden 'D H C' in the mark. Damn, that is one sweet logo and it really shines above. Very flexible and I dig the color selection.

It's refreshing to see great work around here every once in a while.

I Agree - bravo.

life is great; without it, you'd be dead.
