Did you try the new Netscape?
Ivan | Wed, 2004-08-18 11:43I don't feel like even trying anymore. It was so slow on my system the last time I tried. And it's too big too! What do you think?

Don't think I'll try it either, Ivan. Safari 1.2.3's plenty zippy for me (with its Cache disabled & the Icons folder emptied occasionally).
I've tried some other X browsers and always come back to Safari. Firefox did seem a tad faster in the page-loading department (when they DID load), but a couple things about it drove me crazy[-er]. While perusing news sites & forums, I often have 8-12 pages loading in tabs, and when one fails to load in Safari, all I have to do is click its tab and hit cmd+r, then it'll usually load right away. In Firefox's tabs, when a page fails to load, its URL immediately disappears from the address field! That reallllly slowed me down, having to try & remember/figure out which link that I'd clicked was for the page that hadn't loaded.
That was an immediate deal breaker here. Who wants to THINK while they're surfin'?!? :D

I haven't used Netscape since ´96 ... can't imagine what they could do today to get back were they were... so many good browsers out there!
But for me, I'm staying with Safari. It does what I wan't exactly the way I wan't it to... what more can you ask? :)
Many Firefox users complained about that, including me. Let's hope it get's fixed soon.
Thel! You gave me an idea for a CreativeBit: 2004/08/speed-up-safari-start-up.html
